roughly 4 months ago we identified an issue where our audio bitrate was far lower than intended.
At this time we think that this is a combination of 2 things.
-
First, we think our audio transcoding settings were copied from our target for 360p video to all targets by accident sometime in the past when the transcoding stack was completely rewritten from scratch and this change wasn’t noticed.
-
Secondly, due to playback issues, a sizable amount (not all) of our backlog was re-transcoded, so the exact point in time that this happened isn’t immediately obvious.
There is a temporary measure currently sitting in our pre-production environment that will improve things a fair amount but not bring them quite up to what the goal is. We will hopefully be releasing this soon.
Getting back to our target audio quality will be pursued after some much needed transcoding improvements are polished off.
